Curran Surname DNA Sucess Story
Are you at a brick wall with your Curran research?Have you thought about DNA testing?
I am the admin for the Curran Surname DNA Project and would like to share a success story.
I wasn’t sure whether my Curran ancestors were from County Galway or Donegal, Ireland.I had conflicting information from my research. In addition, I had not been able to find any other family that emigrated with my ancestor from Ireland.I was put in touch with a gentleman with the Curran surname living in Australia. We corresponded for several months and shared information. The information indicated that we shared a common ancestor from Donegal.Since I was the admin of the Curran Surname DNA project, I suggested that he join the project. He did and when his results came back – they indicated my family and his were related. Based on our independent genealogy research we were able to pin point our common ancestor. My cousin in Australia was in touch with another Curran that currently lives in Ireland a few miles away from where our ancestors were from.He convinced him to test; unfortunately he did not match. He does match with another person that tested from another company and I are in touch to see if this person will join the Curran Surname DNA project.
Coincidentally, about a month ago another participant joined the project that also lived in Australia. She took another genealogy test called the family finder test and we are still waiting for her results; but based on the information shared, she was related to our family and my cousin in Australia found another part of his Curran line that he thought did not have any descendants.
There are 19 yDNA participants in the Curran Surname DNA Project and we are looking for more people to join.
