Hardy M. Curry (b. ca. 1833 in GA)
In the 1859 Columbia County, Arkansas, will of Robert M. Curry he names as one of his sons Hardy M. Curry.Hardy M. Curry is named in another post-mortem probate record dated 1868 in which the family presumed that he was still alive but his location was unknown.
So far I have been unsuccessful in finding Hardy M. Curry on any census listing. What happened to him?
In the 1850 Chambers County, Alabama census Robert M. Curry was listed with two son still living with him.One of those sons was listed (on the original microfilm) as "James" age 17.This James of the 1850 census appears to be the same Hardy M. Curry named in Robert's will. There is no James Curry of the proper age listed in the 1860 Arkansas census, and James was not named in Robert's will. Was "James" an error in the 1850 census; should the name have been listed as "Hardy"?
Have any of the descendants of Robert M. Curry (b. ca. 1786-1787; d. ca. 1864-1865 in Columbia County, Arkansas) tackled this mystery?Any opinions or even informed guesses would be appreciated.
