Mr. E. D. Daily Expired Suddenly Sunday
Our people were greatly surprised when the word was given out that Mr. E. D. Daily had passed away during the early hours of the morning. While it was true that his health had not been good during the winter, he had worked all the day before and was feeling as well as usual upon retiring that night.About 4:00 A.M., Mrs. Daily was aroused by his hard and heavy breathing. She tried to arouse him, but couldn't.She called the neighbors and Dr. Conn was sent for and arrived shortly before the end came, which was caused from heart troubles as he had been subject to heart spells at different times.
Edward, son of Edward and Melinda Daily was born in Washington County, Ind., May 15,1849.At the age of about 20.He moved to Clark County near Marshall, Ill., where on Nov. 28, 1868, he was married to Eliza Jane Combs. To this union were born 4 children as follows:Mrs. Fannie Hays of Princeton, Ind, Jacob W. of Danville, Ill., Joseph of Chrisman, Ill., and Milton of Dayton, Ohio.
His wife died March 20, 1901.On Sept. 20 1909, he was married to Harriet E. Roberts.
Mr. Daily lived in Edgar Co. 34 years, 31 of which time he lived in Chrisman. For 12 years he was in the meat business with his son Jacob. He was an honest and industrious citizen and a good neighbor. In his young manhood, he united with the Baptist Church of Clark Co.He was active almost to the hour of his death, which was fitting for a man who was never fond of idleness.Besides his wife and children, he leaves 13 grandchildren with many freiends to mourn his departure.
The funeral was conducted from the family residence Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 by Rev. Hamand of the M. E. Church and Rev. Harnly of the Baptist Church, and interment was made in Woodland Cemetery.
