Daly family of County Kerry
My great-great grandmother Bridget Daly immigrated from Boulacullane, Farranfore to Brooklyn, New York about 1886. I have been researching her family for about fifteen years, and just recently found Catholic Church records for the family online. I also visited County Kerry in September and went to both Saint Gertrude's in Firies and the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Currow to find out more information.
During those visits I was able to find out that Bridget's youngest brother Daniel Daly remained in Ireland, married and had nine children. I am searching for any of their descendants who remain. Below, please find a small family history, with the details as I currently believe them to be.
Daniel Daly Sr. was born about 1820. He married Elizabeth Egar (1837-1909) about 1860, location unknown. Daniel Daly Sr. died 25 December 1869. From baptismal records found online, I believe Daniel's parents were Timothy Daly and Catherine Hannaffin and that he was born in Toonreigh, County Kerry. From Elizabeth's baptismal certificate found on the same site, I believe her parents were Robert Egar and Elizabeth Mangan and that she was born in Currow, County Kerry.
They had four children:
Michael Daly - birthdate unknown
Bridget Daly - 28 May 1864
Patrick Joseph Daly - 17 March 1866
Daniel Joseph Daly - 15 May 1868
Bridget immigrated to Brooklyn about 1883, married there and had a family.
She was followed by her brother Patrick in 1886, and he married there and had a family.
Their mother Elizabeth immigrated to join them in 1889.
The youngest son, Daniel Joseph Daly (1868) relocated from Boulacullane to Drumolton and married Mary Barrett (1871- 31 March 1953) on 26 February 1897. They had nine children:
Daniel - 23 December 1897
Andrew - 8 June 1899
Ann Mary (could also have been known as Johanna) - 19 August 1900
Elizabeth Mary - 12 July 1903
Michael - 4 June 1905
James - 2 June 1907
Mary Agnes - 27 August 1909
Patrick - 24 May 1911
Bridget - 3 January 1914
I would love to hear from any remaining cousins who are still living in Ireland, to find out more information about Daniel's family. I would also be happy to tell you everything that I know and have learned about Bridget, Patrick and Elizabeth Daly.
