Several follow-ups ago the brothers Alexander and John were mentioned. The book which George and Edward produced when they were in their eighties tells that their brother Alexander "a youth of rare artistic promise" died in London at the age of 22. Brother John joined the firm in London in 1852 but was forced by ill-health to move north to Cumberland in 1868. He died at Drigg in 1869. My interest in the family springs from my connection with Highgate Cemetery where many of them are buried.
