Donna Marie Croat, 76, was born on February 9, 1931, in Sanborn, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Helle) Dammann. She graduated from Sanborn High School in 1949. Donna married Melvin Croat on February 14, 1953, at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian, Minnesota. After their marriage, they farmed north of Rushmore, Minnesota, their entire life and raised seven children. In so many ways, Donna played a key role in the day to day operations of the farm and will be greatly missed by everyone. She was a member of St. Adrian Catholic Church. Donna enjoyed flowers, gardening, watching the Minnesota Twins, reading, and baking, making sure the house was never without a chocolate chip cookie. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Donna died on Friday, June 22, 2007, at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Donna is survived by her husband, Melvin, of Rushmore, MN; seven children, Mike (Vicky) Croat, of Rushmore, MN, Barb (Butch) Kruger, of Fulda, MN, Kathy Szalat, of Brandon, SD, Mark (Micki) Croat, of Rushmore, MN, Tom Croat, of Rushmore, MN, Lori (Dan) Fauskee, of Worthington, MN, and Shari (Mark) Dykema, of Spirit Lake, IA; ten grandchildren, Troy, Stacey, Josh, Brandon, Jason, Samantha, Blake, Brittin, Jack, and Jennifer; five step grandchildren, MeLissa, Ann, Kati, Dan, and Adam, and seven step great grandchildren, Payton, Zoe, Ivy, Manika, Sam, Derrick, and Trevor. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Martha, and an infant brother.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian, Minnesota, with Father Gerald Kosse officiating. Casket bearers will be Larry Boots, Lyle Boots, Gary Schenk, Wendell Wagner, Donald Rabenberg, and Michael Wagner. Burial will be in St. Adrian Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 25, 2007, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, Minnesota, and on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian, Minnesota.
