Debra, I just came across a letter among my grandfather Dane's papers that is very intriguing. It is titled simply "DANE" and then goes on to describe some of the origins of the Dane family.
It then says "For 20 years, I have been putting together the story of the DANE family in this country and setting down the geneological notes necessary for an authentic geneology. This task is about completed."
It is signed "Yours truly, Harold John Dane, Box 1086, Boca Raton, Florida.Formerly Toledo, Ohio and Iowa City, Iowa."
I'm virtually certain this is the same man you're referring to.Unfortunately I can't tell you the date or even who it was addressed to, but based on the typing and the age of the paper, I'm pretty sure it was written after 1920.My guess would be 1950's or 60's.
