I'm related to a Francis and Asa Daniel living in Dade County in the 1860s. I'm not sure if they're the ones you're looking for, but here's the info I have on them.
Francis and Asa were the first cousins of Jasper Newton Daniel (Jack) of Jack Daniel's Whiskey fame. Asa had a son, Milligan Chester Daniel, who served in the 39th Georgia Infantry in the Civil War (check out http://39thGAVOLINFRGT.homestead.com/39thHomepage.htmlhttp://39thGAVOLINFRGT.homestead.com/39thHomepage.html ) Francis is my GGGG-Grandfather. He was an officer with the 39th GA. His son, Seaborn (my GGG-Grandfather), was also an officer in the 39th GA. I don't know Francis' wife's name, or much of anything else about his family. I do have copies of some of the things he had to sign during the Civil War. Seaborn married Martha Lowe. I do have a list of all of Seaborn's children and a large list of some of the rest of his descendents.
It looks to me as if these are the same Francis and Asa. The webmaster of the website I listed above is a descendent of Seaborn's cousin Jobe. I have no idea whether or not Jobe was one of Asa's sons.
Also, I have learned that Francis and Asa's grandparents were Joseph Daniel (from England) and Elizabeth Calaway (from Scotland). They married in Scotland, and John fought in the Revolutionary War. Their son Calaway was "Jack" Daniel's dad, but I haven't found the names of Francis and Asa's parents.
Let me know if this helps you out or it you have any more info to share. If you want, I can send you the descendant list I have compiled for Seaborn.
