Re: Edgar A .Darnell of Monroe Co. ,Missouri
I'm looking for this man too, for another granddaughter, Robin (doubtless your cousin).I wonder if you have more info now than you did when you posted. If you do, I'd love to know what you have found out.
Edgar is in the 1900 census in Audrain MO with his parents Charles b Jan 1861, mother Ida Lee Northcutt b Jul 1858, brother Wardie T & sister Nellie M.
1910 census same people same place
1917 registered for the draft in Roseville Ill; b 25 Jan 1890 in Victor, Monroe Co, MO; farm laborer, working for Howard Malcolm in Roseville; married three children; asks exemption for dependent family.(In the 1930 census he, or whoever talked to the census taker, said he served in WWI.)
1920 census: Salt River, Pike Co, Missouri:He is 29, single, living with another young man, Joseph Shields, 33, single.Joseph is head of household and Edgar is "Pardner."Joseph is a farmer & Edgar is farm labor, working out.
1930 census Fabius Twp, Marion, Ill, with wife Mary, 26, & children Norma, 8; Roy, 7; Martha, 6; Edmond, 4.He is 40, and was 29 at 1st marr; Mary Belle was 16 at her first marr.
Question:Did he really have a wife & 3 children when he registered for the WWI draft? If so, what happened to them?
