Sandy,
I descend from John C. Guess born ca 1773 possibly Fairfax, VA, he married Elizabeth Riggs 18 Nov 1797 Orange Co., NC.Their son George R. Guess born 26 July 1799 Orange Co., NC, his son John T. Guess born Caldwell Co., KY, his son James Frank Guess, his
daughter Helena Guess was my grandmother.
I plan to go to Mount Vernon, VA this month and I think I know where Joseph and Ann Guess lived. The land they had the livetime lease on was on Dogue Creek.I believe it may be Woodlawn Plantation which is one of the five plantations that were on the Mount Vernon estate.
I believe the man you are looking for is Sampson Darrell of Truro Parish, Prince William Co., VA.
