Hi Earl,
Thanks for your message. I have since discovered that my 2nd great-grandfather, John David (those one who emmigrated to the U.S.), was born Jean Julien David in Nantes, France on January 6, 1840. His father, Jean David, was also born in Nantes, but his other David ancestors (grandfather, great-grandfather, going back to his 4th great-grandfather) seem to have been born in Orvault, a suburb of Nantes. The closest one of my David ancestors in birth year to your 1695 ancestor was Julien David, born in 1701 in Orvault. His parents were Julien David (born 1654 in Orvault) and Marguerite Guichard. I imagine our families come from the same line at some point, given the relative close proximity and time periods. It does seem like they would have crossed many, many generations ago, however. In any case, do you have any additional information about the origins of Jean Pierre David's ancestors? That is, how far back do you go on that line? Thanks!
Kevin
