James J. Davis - Indiana

I have come to a dead end regarding James J. Davis' family. He was born Nov 7, 1828, maybe in Indiana. He moved to Lovilia, Iowa, and then joined the gold rush to California abt. 1849. He settled in Oregon in 1852, where he married Mary Ann Miller, and farmed and raised a family. Does this name/data ring a bell with any helpful souls out there?
