Russell,
I am researching Wiley Davis, b. SC, who married Mary (Polly) Mangrum, b. VA, and moved to AR sometime before 1837.They married in Maury Co, TN (or a nearby county) in the 1820/30s.
Wiley was the son of Benjamin J. Davis and Mary Johnson who both died in Maury Co, TN in the 1840/50s.Mary (Polly) Mangrum was the daughter of Isham Mangrum and Martha (Patsy) Allen (Allens and Johnsons were connected also) both of whom who died in Maury Co, TN.
I found a Mary Davis (no Wiley) in 1860 Scott, AR.It is POSSIBLE she is the Mary Mangrum Davis I'm looking for and POSSIBLE your Davis could be related??I'm still researching this 1860 Scott, AR family.
One clue for me is that Wiley Davis's sister, Eliza J. Davis, married John T. Nevils, and his brother, Woodson Davis, married Mary Susan Nevil.I see some Nevils in 1860 Scott, AR also...anyway that is a clue for me to search. In those days, families/friends tended to travel and settle near each other. You might want to see if you can connect your Davis to the Davis/Nevil line...
