saac H Daws son of John Daws and Elizabeth Moore
Looking for any info on Isaac H Daws sone of John Daws and Elizabeth Moore of Mecklenburg County Virginia. In John Daws will he mentions the following children:
- Patsy B
- Polly J
- John J
- Isaac H
- Sally Ann
- Rebecca (Holmes)
My ancestor is Isaac H Daws who last resided and possibly died in Holly Springs, Dallas County, Arkansas.
Via 1850-70 census entries my ancestor can be constructed as:
Isaac H Daws married to Susan C (unknown surname)
Both born in Virginia around 1800-1803
Children born in Tennessee:
- Elizabeth L
- William (probably William J)
Children then born in Alabama (Talladega)
- Sally A (probably Sally/Sarah Ann)
I’ve noticed a lot of people online connect these people up and I’m looking for any info to help secure this connection or disprove it.
Birth times and place definitely match up, some of the other John Daws children also look to have gone to Tennessee (Isaac continued onto Alabama and then Arkansas).
My Isaac’s children names match up very close to his siblings (minus Elizabeth which would match up to Isaac’s mother), especially Joel and Sally Ann seem to be very common names on the Mecklenburg side (as well as my side, Joel his son seems to use a middle name of Joel as well down the line).
I also haven’t found any other Isaac H. born around that time to match up to (obviously records around 1800 are tricky with children names however so there maybe be another).
Elizabeth Moore seems to bet he daughter of Mary Farrar and connects to that line, including Thomas Jeffersons cousin Judith Jefferson.I’ve had my grandmother up that line DNA tested (Isaac H Daws is her 2x great grandfather) and there are about 20 or so matches on Ancestry DNAthat only overlap on the Farrar tree.A couple that only match on John Daws & Elizabeth Moore, and about 10+ that only match on the Jefferson line.Obviously these people could match on ancestors not mapped though that’s a larger amount of matches than I expected (here’s where I wish Ancestry DNA had the matching tools of FTDNA, I’m importing her DNA over to there to see if those help narrow down shared matches).
I haven’t been able to determine who Susan C. his wife is.I’ve looked at all sorts of Virginia and Tennessee marriage records. In Virginia there is a possibly lead, an Isaac who married a Susan Stone that would match up timewise, but haven’t been able to establish a connection and there are a couple other family tree that claim that couple.Interestingly Elijah Stone has some cross purchase records with John Daws and their families seem to be possibly inter-related, again no actual connection found though. The “C” for Susan C on the 1850s census doesn’t appear on 1860 and 1870.It looks like a C but could also be an S (it’s in cursive so a bit hard to tell, but looks like a C).
Really looking for any information regarding John Daws and Elizabeth Moore and especially anything that can support or disprove this connection.
