Re: Day/Harper connection
"Celia Sites, that she had a guardian appointed 3 months after the birth of her son. Based upon the birth date of Benjamin Pennington in 1884 and Celia Sites's earliest estimated birth date of ca. 1871, it would seem that perhaps Peter Pennington was not his biological father. DNA testing would certainly help clarify this.
It is also perhaps meaningful that she was the youngest child of Mary Ann (Harper) Sites and her ONLY child not mentioned in the deeds and guardianship records of her husband's children. [Pendleton County, WV, County Court Record B 1866-1872:147; and "Deed of Sale from Johnson Sites, Guardian, to Joshua Day," 24 November 1874 (recorded 6 April 1876), Pendleton County, WV, Deed Book 21:11-12.] These documents are dated 2 years after the death of Mary Ann so it seems unlikely that Celia was not born yet and thus not included. "
This is an excerpt about the Sites/family on rootsweb.
appparently in 1874 Johnson Sites was a guardian to Joshua Day. His mother was Mary Ann Harper Sites. I know this is later than your Day/Harper connection but maybe finding an earlier Sites/Day connection in Pendleton co. mihgt work.
