Re: S A Dearmore, Haskell Oklahoma 1920
In my last post I show Myrtles children as Norman, Sammie, Florence, Alma, Adlene, & Roy.I made a mistake with the first child, his name was Albert.
This family doesn't get any easier.I find Bluford Artemus Dearmore and Myrtle in the 1930 census in Grady Co., OK. Their children now show a twin to Calvin his son and he is Alvin. Both are 17 place of birth is CA., then there is Johnnie 15, Le Roy 13, Cecil 10 (I believe this is Irene in the last census), Myrtle 7, B.A. Dearmore son 5, D.R. Dearmore son 3, & H.I. Dearmore son 6/12.
They all show the last name of Dearmore but at least Leroy is hers from her first marriage to Ben Apperson in Fort Smith AR., 10 Dec. 1901. I don't know where Alvin was in the 1920 census he was not shown. She married B.A.Dearmore in Fort Smith on 26 Mar. 1919.So Irene Cecil was theirs together and it seems Myrtle, B.A., D.R., & H.I. Dearmore.
What is really strange about Myrtle is her age. She is first found in Crawford Co., Ar. living with her brother Albert Robbins and her age is 7 and shows b. Aug. 1892 which means she was only 9 when she 1st married but the marriage record shows 14.Guess her mother reported her age wrong! It doesn't stop there cause she is 19 in the 1910 census in Sebastian Co., and 30 in the 1920 census and 43 in the 1930 census.Of course you can't always rely on census records. It is interesting how clear the 1920 census is and his initials are clearly S.A. yet he is B.A. in the marriage record and Bluford A in the 1930 census.
Can anyone out there help me clear up these things with this family?
