Re: Phillip DEFREEST mid 1700's Rensselaer Co., NY
THANKS :) for the very informative website. We researchers are indebted to you.
The Phillip DEFREEST house built in mid 1700's of Dutch architect, was owned my Great Uncle Chester and Juliana WEND JORDAN, and is now being used as an information and business office by RPI Technology Center; the main road is Jordan Road, in Defreestsville, Rensellaer Co., NY.
Another historic home on the Troy-North Greenbush Road [Route 4 and 40], Rensellaer Co., New York, was bought from Mrs. DEFREEST SCRIBENER by Frederick A. and Eleanor GOEWEY JORDAN, my grandparents, and they dairy farmed there starting in 1921 until their deaths. An old fireplace shield found in the house has the inscription "AT New York 1767".Also, legend has it that bricks from Holland were used for the construction of the original section of the house.
THANKS :) again,
