Hi Shielagh
Thanks for this information and for the details from the death certificate of Agnes Pearson/DeLandelles. I'll get searching the LDS files.
From that list of surviving children at her death, I am missing the birth of Eliza. Do you know where she was born. She's between the Newcastle born Agnes and the Qld siblings listed.
I have found 3 births-Anne Maria (1863), Agnes St Clair(1856) and Alfonzo St Clare(1861) in Victoria but there must be another Alfonzo too as I found 2 deaths-Agnes aged 3 and Alfonzo aged 1 both in 1860. The surviving Alfonzo was born at Targulla in 1861.
The next Agnes was born in Newcastle in 1868 and also died as the name was used a 3rd time for Kev's grandmother in 1873.
I have found 4 births on the Qld BDM-Ernest, George W, Agnes and James Wm.
Kev's grandmother, Agnes was born at New Zealand Gully, Mt Chalmers, just outside Rockhampton. There is a gold connection there too as there was gold discovered at Mt Chalmers as well as Mt Morgan.
Kev's Mum, Iris Florence was youngest child of Agnes (above) and Fred Phillips. Agnes was Alfonzo and Agnes' youngest daughter.
I haven't found Alfonzo on any shipping lists either but am going to a seminar this weekend where the guest speakers are from State Records (NSW) and shipping is one of the topics covered. Will ask lots of questions as I have 2 more "swimmers" on my side of the family too!! Will keep you posted if I find out some hints or specifics.
Best wishes
Lyndall
