Re: Our First Delaroche
As I was saying in my last post translation at the time of entry into America was sometimes lost. The person recording the entry many times wrote the name as it sounded to that person.
In the case with my GreatGrandmother I have found many different ways that her last name could have been spelled but the spelling Cunhalt is surely a mistake in spelling. With her being German the name could have been Kuenholtz or a different amount of spellings sounding simular.
I hope with the beginning of this family forum we can discover different spellings for all our families that may bring us closer to a connection in the future.
Delaroche in our family was shorten down through the years by our own family members. They finally ended with the spelling LaRoche .
Constant and Elizabeth our first KNOWN family member here in this country began their lives here in New York August 27,1937.they later moved on to Canada then returning back to NewYork.
While in NewYork their first child was born. Her name was Adalaid Delaroche. She was born in 1841.She used the Surname as her father Delaroche .She spent her early childhood in NewYork and Canada then in her early teens the family moved to Louisana. Adalaid met a man named James Baker from Newfoundland. He was a friend of her fathers and much older than she. They were later married .
The second child of Constant and Elizabeth was Armond Delaroche ,he was born in 1843 also in NewYork. Armond never married .He died around 1887.
The third child of Constant and Elizabeth was Constant Daniel Delaroche II. He married Catherine Parody and had five children . Constant Daniel III ,William John,Elizabeth Teresa, Joseph John and Francis Marcelino.
By this generation the last name has been shortened to LaRoche.
This will be a very large family and impossiable to sit down and record the entire family in one day so I will Add to this family as time allows. I will stop here and as I add I will back up to the first family and do just family outlines of each generation.
I hope you enjoy and please feel free to add to this at any time. Also if you have any questions or would like to have some help finding your line feel free to ask and I will do all I can to help.
God Bless .
