A little information on his service:according to the Confederate Navy Research Center (www.csnavy.org) he was Acting Masters Mate on the CSS Baltic. The site states he died on January 3, 1913.The Baltic was a 624 ton, side wheel, ironclad ram operating in Mobile Bay and nearby rivers. See www.history.navy.mil for a drawing of the ship.
There are other DeLesDerniers who served for the Confederacy: W. J. was with the 1st Spec. Battn. of Rightor's Louisiana Infantry, William was with Capt. Landry's Donaldsonville Arty. (Louisiana), and George Henry from Texas was killed at the battle of Gaines Mill. There was one Texas unit at this battle.
George Henry DeLesDernier had a brother Louis F. born in 1837.My record of his death date does not match the 1/3/1913 above.
If you have any information on his ancestry, please share it.
