Re: Hendry - Delhenty Marriage - ONT or SK?
Doug:I think we may have a link to the two Delhenty/Dullhenty families after all.I have to confirm it but I believe there is a strong possibility that Henry Dullhenty was first married to Sarah Marriott and had a daughter, Mabel Nettie Dullhenty (notice I'm using this spelling now as I found a letter from Ethel Dullhenty's family in CA who said they had her birth certificate and it was spelled "Dullhenty").You see, the Ethel I thought was Mabel's sister may have only been her 1/2 sister. As Ethel is listed with the same birthdate and place of birth as the Ethel whose mother was Ida Rachel Cranton.I believe Ida may have been Henry's second wife as George "Arthur" Thompson was Sarah's second husband. (I further believe the family was confused as to just whose name was "Arthur"). Mabel was born in Nov. 1881, I found an 1881 Canadian census with the Marriott family (David and Hannah)with all children living at home except for Mabel (I believe the Census was done in April). This scenario would explain why the family has so many pictures of the Grant family but none of Mabel's family. It also explains why when Mabel died at a young age, it was Alexander Grant's sister who came to the funeral and took the two little girls to her home out of state for a few months and no mention of Mabel's family at all.Hazel Zilla appears to be the youngest sister of Ethel and, if my theory is correct, was Mabel's 1/2 sister as well.I will keep an eye out for Hazel as I continue my search.
Best holiday wishes to you and yours.
