Since both Catherine's listed in the 1850 Illinois census are 19 years old, and both were born in Ohio, the Catherine you refer to who was born in 1811 is probably from an earlier generation. It seems to be a rather common name in the earlier Demoss Line.

I only have one Alexander DeMoss, son of James H. DeMoss / Margaret Nace who was married to Sarah Sparks and then Harriet O'Neal.Do you have more on Alexander?

I see you were born a DeMoss just like my mother, who is from the James H. DeMoss / Margaret Nace line.I also have a 92 year old Aunt, still living in Livingston County who was also born a DeMoss and is a descendant of William H. Demoss and Charlotte Ann Sparks.
