Denley of Dublin, Ireland and Birmingham, England
John Denley was born in Dublin, Ireland between 1812 and 1815. His mother was Ann Edmunds or Edwards, a widow, who was also born in Dublin, Ireland around 1790.
John Denley married Elizabeth Jones (although her name was recorded as Watson on the marriage certificate of her daughter Harriet) on 27th October 1834 at Edgbaston near Birmingham. They had a large family over 3 decades but appear to have separated by 1861, when the family was living in 2 houses.
Elizabeth was born in Birmingham about 1808 and died, a widow aged 80, in Birmingham on 29th September 1888. John died in Birmingham in the December quarter of 1883, aged 68 under the name of John Dendley.
Selina Denley was born on 14th December 1846. She married Richard Clews at St. Peter’s Church in Birmingham on the 17th March 1867. They migrated to America from Liverpool and Queenstown, Ireland aboard the “St David” arriving in New York on 30th March 1868. They lived there long enough for a son Frederick Richard to be born in Massachusetts about 1872. They returned to England and migrated to South Australia on the “Oaklands”, leaving Plymouth on 3rd June 1877 and arriving in Adelaide on 9th September 1877.
