DENNERLEIN's of the Bronx
I am currently researching the DENNERLEIN's that lived in the Bronx, NY up until at least the 1930's. This includes the DENNERLEIN's of Morrisania, NY. I am focusing on this part of my family because it is the most recent wall in my research that I have encountered.
There are 16 DENNERLEIN/DENNERLINE's listed in the 1890 NYC directory. Those 16 boil down to 8 different residences. Minus the obvious Manhattan addresses:
Adam DENNERLEIN, police
Christina (DENNERLEIN), widow of George
Frank DENNERLEIN, driver
George DENNERLEIN, police
John and Julia DENNERLEIN, police and candy
John, Joseph, Margaret DENNERLEIN, scavenger, driver, (widow of Henry and milk)
Peter DENNERLINE, smith
In the 1869 NYC directory there are 2 DENNERLEIN's, both of Manhattan.
My personal interest is that my grandmother was born a Dennerlein in the bronx in 1906 and I haven't a clue yet who her parents were. Her info is as follows:
Dorothy Francis DENNERLEIN (1906-1988)
b. 7 Nov 1906, NY, NY
m. Denis Christopher RYAN
d. 14 Feb 1988, LA, CA
She has one sister (Marge (DENNERLEIN) FAETH) and it would appear that they lived on or around Eagle Ave. in the Bronx. Dorothy's death certificate indicates that her mother's maiden name was HAUCK.
Cheers and good luck on your research.
