isaac denton-mary yowell connections
I am trying to find the parents of Isaac H. Denton who was murdered in Kansas in 1857 during the slave/free state issue. His wife was Mary Yowell, sister of Dicey (Yowell) Hooper. They are mentioned in a sale of poperty in 1829 in McMinn County, TN. In 1840 they lived in Murray County, GA and in 1855 they were in Bourbon County, KS. Probable children are James, John, Sarah, Thomas Jefferson, Isaac C., and Alfred; the first three born in Tennessee and the latter in Georgia. John was also murdered and Thomas died from illness during the Civil War at Fort Scott, KS. Alfred settled in Vernon County, Missouri and Isaac, my ggg-grandfather disappeared in the mid-late 1860s. His wife was from Michigan and returned there after his disappearance. My great grandmother, Bertha (Denton) Ferguson, died in the 1918 flu epidemic when her sons were very small so no family information was passed on and this has been a difficult line to research. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
