Hello Depuis, my name is Dick Wood. My 7th g grandmother is Guertje Depuy, bca. 1700 in Haverstraw, NY and was baptized in the Tappan Dutch Church, in Tappan, NY, ca 1702.
Her parents were John Depuy (De Pew) and Jannetje Wiltsie.
Of equal interest to me is what information you have on the French Hugenot family of Gaston. My ancestor, Hugh Gaston and his brothers) arrived in the colonies around 1720 (New Jersey) from northern Ireland.
Supposedly his (Hugh's) parents and/or grandparents were from Scotland, where the "first Hugenot Gaston (Jean)" fled from France about 1640
I am very excited about the possibly that you may have some information on my Gaston heritage.
And of course the DePuy's.
As a sidebar, one of the earliest settlers to northeastern Pennsylvania, (what is now Stroudsburg) was Samuel DePui. His name is mentioned as fighting off the Indians in the uprising of 1755-1756.
Any help is appreciated. If you prefer, please contact me at rwood238 at comcast.net
