In the book of SW LA Records Vol.IV 1841-1847 by Donald Hebert there is a listing for a marriage between Clementine Desessarts and Pierre DeLaFosse (Opel.Ct.Hse:Mar.#5)that took place Nov.18, 1841 on pg.140. This book includes parishes Calcasieu, St.Landry, Vermillion, St.Martin & St.Mary.On pg.132 of the same book is a listing for a Benjamin Hilaire De La Fosse(Pierre & Clementine Dessessarts) b.Apr.6, 1846 (Opel.Ch.:V.4p.283) and a marriage listing for Pierre De La Fosse(Romain & Marie WABB) m. Nov.22, 1841 Clementine DESCHART(Opel.Ch.:v.2, p.213), as well as another listing for the Nov. 18 date on p.213.Apparently they filed a petition for marriage on the 18th at the court house and wed in the Church on the 22nd.My tie to this family is that my gggrandfather, Charles Claiborne Reid, is living with them in Polk Co., TX on the 1850 census at age of 21 b.LA.A distant relative said it was passed down in their family that Clementine was a sister to Claiborne Reid.Does anyone with the Desessart line have any info on a Desessarts/Dessessart/Deschart and a Reid/Reed/Read family?Claiborne went to TX at about 17 yrs of age with a group from LA, mostly the Rapides parish area, in about 1847/1848.I am not sure how he ties to any of these families or if he does. What has been passed down in our family was that his parents died about mid 1840's leaving him and two sisters orphaned. As yet I have found no leads to his parents or siblings.Any help would be most appreciated.
