A biography of August Dessel is included in "Progressive Men of the State of Montana".Parents: Joseph & Mattie Dessel, natives of Canada (father born 1811 in Vienna). 1892, at Fort Assinniboine, Montana, August married Miss Alice Geiting, who was born near Chicago, in 1849.
