Y-DNA Link to Arnulph LeTURQUE - 1700-1900 PA/NY

By Toni Turk November 09, 2003 at 06:42:40

The most tantalizing piece of information contained in the 1934 LeTURK/DeTURCK study is the introduction of the Arnulph LeTURQUE "legend". The DeTURK/DeTURCK book does not give a direct genealogical connection between this eleventh century figure and the PA/NY DeTURK/DeTURCKs, but it claims a connection. Our website - www.turkgenealogy.com - has made an extensive effort to make this connection. A recent development in our TURK Surname Y-DNA Project potentially lends credibility to this claimed lineage. One of our participants - Donald Orlando TURK - is dead-ended with his line in NY. I suspect that his line ties to the DeTURK/DeTURCK family. His Y-DNA is extremely rare. He is in Haplogroup G, which ties to the Middle East. We do not currently have a male DeTURK/DeTURCK from the PA/NY line participating in our Y-DNA Project. We would like to have one or more in order to (1) establish genetic "proof" of such a lineage and (2) to help Donald confirm/deny his possible connection to this lineage. Male DeTURK/DeTURCKs interested in participating may do so at the following link - http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=E71701http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=E71701 .
