Hi, Vicki!
My great-great-grandfather, Louis Duez, also came from Belgium.I have not been able to get much information on him, but I found a copy (in French) of his birth certificate on Ancestry.com (http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/ViewPhoto.aspx?tid=4823021&pid=-1041559836&oid=5df6e6b0-2902-4d51-8917-69324cd650f3&pg=32768&idx=1) It states that he was born 12 Feb. 1856 in Cuesmes, Belgium, son of Louis Duez and Julie Fourre. He was married in Belgium to Elisa Orlea. They had three daughters (two born in Belgium) and moved to West Virginia where he was killed in a coal mining accident just before their third daughter was born.Elisa's sister, Eva, married a Pichon who was also a coal miner from Belgium and they lived in Vermilion Co. Illinois. So, this Duez/Dewey line did not have any male descendants, but their grandson's (my grandfahter) middle name was Dewey.
