Looking for DiCesare family from Carapelle Calvisio
Hello, I am looking for my grandfather's family members, surname DiCesare. My name is spelled differently because my father changed it when he moved here and started school (he thought it looked more American, which was very important in the 30's).My grandfather was Paolo DiCesare from Carapelle Calvisio, near L'Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy.I think he had several brothers and at least one sister. One brother was named Giovanni and lived in Gary, Indiana (US).
Paolo was born 2 June 1895 in Carapelle. He served in the Italian Army from about 1915-1917 during WWI.He came to the US first in 1920 aboard The Rex steamer ship, and settled in Chicago, IL but returned to Carapelle in the late 20's.He married Ersilia DiNardo (my grandmother) from nearby Barisciano in 1930, and then returned to the US.My father, Francesco (Frank) DiCesare was born in Carapelle in 1931, and he and my grandmother, Ersilia, came to the US in 1934 aboard Il Conte Di Savoia steamer ship. They settled near Pittsburgh, PA, which is where this email is coming from.
I have plenty of information about the DiNardo side of my family but I am interested in getting more information about the DiCesare side.Any information would be greatly appreciated.Mille grazie
