Mathew & Mary, Charles Co., MD; 1697
I am not related to these people, just entering random information. In the book "Early Charles County Maryland Settlers, 1658-1745" by Marlene Strawser Bates & F. Edward Wright is the following information:
"Dike, Mathew, age 20 yrs. Servant of Mathew Stone, 12 March 1671/2 (Ct.& Land E#1.54."
"Dike, Elizabeth, dau. of Matthew and Mary dike.Cattle mark recorded 14 Jan 1689. (Ct. & Land P#1.190)"
"Dike, Matthew.Regarding his wife administration of estate of her late husband, Thomas Alcocks, 10 Jan 1692. (Ct. & Land Q#1.62"
Thomas Alcock left land to his son Thomas, daughter Mary, his wife, and his unborn child."Items in possession of Mathew Dike who married Mary, relict of dec'd (Inv. 8.291; 20 April 1694."
"Thomas Alcock mentions sister Mary Dike and mother Mary Dike, father mathew Dike, ex. (will 6.98; 14 Oct 1696; 3 March 1697) Extx. Marie Dike.
"Dike(Dyke), Matthew. In his will he left to dau. Eliza tract called Wood's Folly in Stafford Co., VA.To Edward, son of Edw. Rockwood, William Thomas, and son in law Thomas Allcoke, personalty.Wife Mary extx. (Will 6.91; 28 May 1697; 3 March 1697" (Dates do not seem correct; possibly will was made in 1696 - he left something to Thomas Alcock, his step son, whose will was probated the same day in 1697.)
