I just happened to be following this same family and have some information to take you back further.
John Dildine, the ggf in the article you posted is the son of Samson and Martha Hunt Dildine. Martha is the daughter of Samuel and Abigail (Knowlton) Hunt.
Samson is th son of George (or Uriah) and Anna (LeFooij) Dildine.
Samson is of Huguenot ancestry and lived near the Yellow Frame Church. He settled in Green Twp., Sussex Co. NJ.
A search for Ralph Dildine and Sussex Co., NJ will take you to "History of Sussex Co. NJ" compiled by James P. Snell, 1891 and page 438. This has the information on Sampson and his children including John and Richard who both settled in Columbiana Co., OH about 1802 - 1804.
Richard Dildine appears on the militia roster in 1806 and can be found by searching for his name and Columbiana Co.
Your gggm Melvina is probably the Vinie mentioned as a daughter of Samuel and Rebecca (Caldwell) Dildine in the article you posted. Her absence from the 1850 census may simply mean she was away visiting a relative or friend on census day. You might try searching on her first name and the township, using Melvina, Vinie, Mel, Vina and anything else that may be made from the name.
This is not my line so I have nothing else to offer.
