Nicolo DiStefano died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at JFK Medical Center, Edison. He was 80.
Born in Salemi, Sicily he moved to the U.S. in 1971, and to Carteret in 1977.
He was a parishioner of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Carteret and was a member of Carteret Senior Citizens.
He was owner of Olioficio DiStefano in Rivera, Sicily and later was the owner of Vorghese Restaurant in New York City. He then worked at Partners Building Management in New York as a facility manager, until he retired in 1997.
His favorite pastimes were spending time with his grandchildren, who he loved and cherished dearly, and traveling with his wife. He was a devoted father and husband and was well known for his kindness and generosity.
He was predeceased by his brother, Rino, in 1982.
Survived by his wife of 54 years, Angelina; a son, Robert of Carteret; two daughters, Patrizia Heditsch and her husband, Bill of Edison, and Rosetta Talmeri and her husband, Salvatore of Staten Island, N.Y., and five grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Rosetta, Bice, and Rita of Sicily, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral and cremation services will be private.
