Looking for help with ancestry of Jacob DIVENS who married Rosina/Roseann MOSSHOLDER ca. 1800 in Somerset Co., PA.They had four children:
Catherine born ca. 1801, married William TRIMBLE and moved to Derry Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA.
Jacob born ca. 1806, married Rebecca MILLER, lived in Jenner Twp., Somerset Co., then Derry Twp., West. Co., then Pittsburg.
My great great grandmother Lydia (TRIMBLE) WEST, daughter of Catherine (DIVENS) TRIMBLE, passed on this bit of information: "2 brothers, John and Jacob DIVENS.Each had 1200 [dollars or pounds?] they brought from England and they put it in the courthouse in Somerset, PA.They were drafted and taken back to England about 1806.Jacob was grandfather. He married Roseann MOSSHOLDER.Their daughter Catherine was bound out about age 7.She married William TRIMBLE."
Jacob and Rebecca (MILLER) DIVENS had at least 8 children including a son William who married Sarah Emily WILSON.William changed his last name to DIVVENS because there were other DIVENS in the area who were not related. He had 9 children.
