Any Doane researcher -Could you help me?

I am trying to find out who this Rev. Mahlan C.Doane is. He is buried in the Butler Cemetery in Cocke County, TN. He has a stone that read b. February 15, 1844 and d. January 6, 1900. All I have ever been told is that he was preaching a revival when he died and they buried him here.

Is there any Doane researcher who might know who the Rev. Mahlan C. Doane is I would greatly appreciated it.
