Don't know if you figured out anything, but I found him in the DFA Book:

Birth:Feb. 15, 1844, Morgan Co, IN
Death:Jan. 6, 1900, Cocke Co, TN

Son of Rachel Reynolds [Hobson] and Joseph Doan(7), Jonathan(6), John(5), Joseph(4), Daniel(3), Daniel(2), Deacon John Doane(1). Lived in Newport, TN.
