VALENTIN DOERING - Hessian Soldier
Hello --
I just recently learned that my husband's 5th great-grandfather was named VALENTIN DOERING (Valentine Derry). His nickname was "Felty".He was born about 1752/53 in the town of Witzenhausen, Germany.
FELTY and his wife, MOLLIE (Mary) came to America about November 1783 as Hessian soldiers and part of the British Army. They deserted and then served with the Patriots under Morgan's Riflemen.
After the Revolutionary war was over they "came up over the mountains" out of Loudoun County, VA and settled in the area of Georges Township, Fayette Co., PA.
I would be interested in sharing information with any other descendants and/or researchers on this family line.
Thanks,
Joan Brown Derry
