Re: Dr. C.K. Donnell, Lewiston, Maine 1920's
Please see my message posting on this board from April of this year. Message #654 as it contains details taken from Vital Records and shows how it relates back to my own DONALD (as the name was orig. spelled) family.
Our Donald's were Scot POW's sent to Boston who then removed to York Co., ME in 1645 via Cromwell's men.
They came from Scotland and were of Clan Donald as is revealed over and over in the old history books of Bath, Georgetown and Wiscasset, Maine regarding Thomas DONALD's > Capt. Nathaniel Donnell's > Capt. Benjamin Donnell's etc. lineage line.
I have posted numerous updates about this info but the old perpetuating and I believe erroneous genealogies continue to haunt our branch of the family and I think the only way to sort it will be via solid Ydna testing now.
Henry DONNELL who married Frances GOOCH or Redding as some have her last name, Henry's last name was orig. DUNWELL not Donald. He was of English descent but also had a son named Thomas who has seemingly been confused over generations of time with our Scottish line.
Our Thomas Donald did not arrive on the scene until c1645 or after. Henry and his family were already in York, ME by then.
While there are scads of similarities, sorting them has been tedious to say the least, I hope some of the info will be of help to you in the message I mentioned regarding Charles Kingsbury Donnell.
Good Luck to you in your research.
