Re: Cornelius Donohoe
Hello Andrea, Recently I have been researching Donaho's who emmigrated to the Island of Barbados from Ireland via England in the 1600s. Many of these Donaho's were listed migrating to America in the late 1600s from Barbados.I can not verify a lot of this info, but I will list what I have and maybe you or somebody else can help substantiate some of this.I have info which I have gathered of a Daniel Donoho who was residing in Somerset County, Maryland by 1666 coming from Aucomac County, Virginia. Daniel was married twice, to Alice and Martha. Daniel and Alice had children Daniel, JOHN, and Sampson and children of Daniel and Martha I have info on are Teague, Sarah, William, Dorman, and possibly Elizabeth.
This is some info I have for St.Pauls Parish, Kent County, Maryland Marriages. I have,
John Donohoe- Mary Conner, 25 June 1704
John Dunahoe- Elinor Sullovan, 11 August 1709
Elizabeth Dunahoe- Darby Sullavant, 27 December, 1714
Cornelius Dunahoe- Mary Owens, 23 July, 1733.
The Will of John Donnoghoe, Jr. planter, Langfords Bay, Kent County, recorded 27 Nov. 1713; died and buried 23 Nov. 1713; Will proved 23 Dec. 1713; Names cousins Daniel and John Sr. wife Elinor; sons John and Matthew.
Kent County Court Records; 31 March 1715, "John Donahoo and Daniel Donahoo make oath that they are nearly related to John Donahoo late of Kent County deceased and did know him there to be Roman Catholic."
It would be great if I could make some connections here. Cornelius to John. And to figure out how this John of Kent County might be connected to Daniel Sr.?
There are some Donoho's with familiar (or common) names who came to and settled in Barbados and some who also migrated on to America who I think might have a connections to this Daniel Donoho????
From the book "The Original Lists of Persons of Quality and others Who Went from Great Britian to the American Plantations, 1600-1700" (Hotten, 1874, page 364)
Cornelius, Jeffory and Teag Dunnahoe left Ireland on 11 June, 1679 (Cornelius and Jeffory were counted together giving indication that Cornelius was the father of Jeffory) bound for the port of Beaumaris on the western coast of England. From there they were transported to Barbados in the West Indies. I know some of these Donoho's from Barbados made there way to America in the late 1600s. I'm wondering if this Daniel is connected to them somehow or if they just had common names. I don't know if this helps you out, but maybe some else out there can help us with this info.
