Kearny,
I pieced together messages from the board for the past three weeks and I do think this is a connection. My Grandfather was Frederick William Dornberger, JR.His Brother Charlie was a musician, died in a plane crash in Minden (gardnerville), Nevada.I believe this was 1937-38.My Grandfather died November 21, 1980.He was married to Alice(Mcpheely)Dornberger. They had two Children Frederick William( Bill) III, and Richard Edward( my father).Bill was last living in Alaska with his second wife. His first wife died several years ago.He had two children from his first Marriage Eric( died 1991?) and Rose Marie, currently living in Tacoma, Wa. with her two children.
My Father, Richard Edward Senior Married Barbara Jean Lormans and has 5 children, Robert, William, Me ( Richard Jr), Julianne and Christopher
-This is my mother-in-law's family so I will have to check details with her, but my initial feeling is that this is a different family. What I have been able to find on Frederick William Dornberger Jr. is that he was born in NYC Nov. 5, 1896, one of three children (the others being Simon and Frieda), and died in Los Angeles in 1980. Frieda was my m-in-law's mother and according to Frieda's birth certificate dated 9 Aug., 1900 in Manhattan, her mother's name was Pauline Marie Krumf and her father was Fred Dornberger. Both Fred and Pauline were born in Germany, according to the census records, although my m-in-law says they were from Alsace-Lorraine. In at least one census, Pauline listed herself as being from Colbenz. My m-in-law found a copy of Frieda's wedding annoucement in which Pauline listed her name as Pauline Cloude Dornberger.
Fred and Pauline were in New York in 1900 and 1910. Can't find Pauline in 1920, but both show up in Los Angeles in 1930, Pauline divorced and Fred remarried to a woman named Alice.
-Appears to be definitely a different family. Fred and Pauline's children were Fred Jr., born Nov. 5, 1896, Simon P. (better known as the musician Charles F. Dornberger), born June 5, 1899, and Freida, born Aug. 9, 1900. Fred Jr.'s wife was Alice M. Troxler, born abt. 1903 in California. Interesting similarities of names, but not the same family. Names. dates, and parents of Fred & Pauline's children are from NYC birth records.
-Looking for information on the family of Fred W. Dornberger who resided in New York City (manhattan borough) from about 1896 to somewhere between 1910 and 1930 when he was in Los Angeles. Married to Pauline Klute, also of Germany (either Alsace Loraine or Colbenz in Prussia).
