Re: Dorrian - Co Down- 1891
Yes, the McShane family is from the Ballyobegun area of CO Down along Kircubbin Road (Inishargy Rd, old name).I found Catherine McShane Dorrian as wife of William Dorrian residing with my gggrandmother Mary Close McShane until approximately 1902.Mary and Catherine's husband William Dorrian died about this time, and Catherine McShane Dorrian married a Michael Sheenan and had a child by the name of Anne Sheenan b. 1907- d. 1987 who married a Jack Stanton of Belfast who is buried in the Belfast area with his family while Anne is buried with her mother and grandmother and grandfather(McShane).
There is a Margaret Breen who is a cousin of my mother's who presently resides in Kircubbin with her husband Joseph, who is a granddaughter of Catherine McShane Dorrian Sheenan who I shall ask when I get a chance to write to her.
From what I gather I feel that the McShane, Close, Dorrian, Boyd, McGratton, Gilmore, and McMullen, etc. families are all intertwined along the genealogical pathways to the present day. There appears to be a movement underway to find out how we are all related with scant records to aid those of us interested in the linkages.
I spent several hours in the Ballycaranbeg R.C. Church with their new Parish Priest a little over one year ago and ventured back to 1828 in their records picking out many Dorrian and McShane family members.I have them posted to a url which I shall lookup and convey to you when I get a chance to do so. Lucinda is a name that I have seen somewhere along the great path that I have been on with research into the McShane line and I shall review to attempt to find where?
Lost my data two times over this past year and have had to basically start over with basics each time.
If you wish the address of the Very Rev. Father Patrick O'Neill, PP.... I shall only be to happy to provide same.Nothing from this church had seen any light since the prior PP was interested in receiving funds "without" any delivery of information.Patrick is a very family oriented individual who says he owes the "people of his parish"
any possible tie-in with relatives overseas. My type of man.
Take care for now while I try to find the tie in for all the Dorrian names I both have contributed and those that existed prior to my getting on line with the URL.
Nice to hear from you again Chuck.
