I have a couple points that I would make on this old Post.
First, Drucilla is the daughter of William Dossett (1810-1845/1850).William is the oldest son of Ila Dossett and Polly Holland, in Lincoln, Tenn.
William was the one that married Nancy Stevens (per marriage record Aug., 7 1834 in Ill.), not James Holland Dossett.
William Dossett and Nancy "Stevens" had 4 children:Mary Ann (B:1835 and can be found living with Wiley R. Palmer in 1850), Nancy Angeline (B:1842 and can be found living with Abner and Sarah Barnard? and Drucilla (B:1838) and William Ila Dossett (B:1840 so his mother was preg. at the time of the census count and that is why he does not show in this ceusns), both can be found living with their UNCLE James Holland Dossett and his wife (widowed Nancy Hughs).
April 3, 1852, Williams land was divided up among his four orphaned children.
James Holland Dossett and Nancy (widowed Hughs) had 3 children of their own:Ila F. (Forrester?) Dossett, b:1843, Elbert Dossett, B:1846, and George W. Dossett B:1848.I am unsure if they had more, but these are the surviving children. My tie is to Ila F. Dossett.
I don't know where the information comes from that the Sarah (who married Abner Barnard) was a Dossett.I have found no evidence of this. She certainly is not the daughter of Ila Dossett and Polly Holland. She was born in Ill in 1827 (per her census records) and Ila and Polly live out their lives in Tenn.I am unsure of just how the Barnards are related as of yet.Sarah could be the sister to Williams Wife (Nancy Stevens), but that is just speculation.
In regards to the 2 "Ilas" being brothers, the evidence in fact shows that they were cousins, that were raised by James Holland Dossett and his wife Nancy like brothers.
I have yet to find out the maiden name of James Holland Dossetts wife Nancy. Some trees suggest perhaps Palmer.I have no idea.Does anyone out there have any proof/ideas?
I just wanted to put this info out there.I would love to here any input or further information that could help sort these "Dossetts" out. Angie
