Re: Daniel Dossey/Unity Copeland Family
It would certainly fit the available census information and other circumstantial evidence for Nancy Dossey Reeves Busbee to be Daniel Dossey’s daughter.Daniel is shown in the 1820 census of Jasper county, GA, with three daughters under 10 (could have been Frankie, Nancy, and another unidentified).Daniel is in the 1830 census of Jasper with 2 daughters 10-15 (could be Frankie and Nancy), one daughter 5-10 (Susan), and two daughters less than five (one could be Elizabeth). In the 1840 census of Crawford county he has one daughter 10-15 (Elizabeth?), and two daughters 15-20 (Nancy? and Susan).Susan married Daniel Sanders in 1856, and Elizabeth married Richard Weaver in 1845.Presumably, Nancy was named after Daniel’s older sister Nancy Dossey Copeland.Frankie is presumably a nickname for Frances (used extensively in later Dossey generations, and probably emanating from a Copeland ancestor).I did not find any land transactions between the Dossey’s and either the Reeves or the Busbees in my records. So the Daniel/Unity children list would include Matthew Jackson b 1814, Frankie b ca 1817, Nancy b 1818, Susan b 1823, Elizabeth b ca 1826, Elias b 1827 (my gggf), and possibly a son named H.S. or H.L, born 1831.Another daughter born early appears not to have survived.
