In 1945, Wadsworth Doster took the information Mrs. Ben Hill Doster had accumulated, and tried to put the family together. Remembering the limited data available then, he did a good job. However, the early Dosters are confused. The will of Thomas Doster (the Emigrant - to sort him) who died in 1748 in Frederick Co, VA, does NOT name a Jonathan Doster as a son. TDG makes his a son anyway. We think he is the son of William Doster, and grandson of Thomas the Emigrant. We now know that Thomas was in Burlington Co, NJ in 1741 when his daughter, Rebecca, married James Chivers/Shivers. James is named in the will. He probably died by 1753 when Rebecca Chivers was named in the Frederick Co Fee Book. There was also confusion with William Doster the son of Thomas the Emigrant who moved to Wilkes Co, GA, and William Doster the son of Thomas and grandson of Thomas the Emigrant who stayed in Frederick Co, VA.Your Joel line is basically correct with James as the father. I don't know where Michael and Alexander came from and have never found them in records. I'll be glad to send you my suggested lineage chart for the early generations.
