Happy to meet You Ruby! Could be I suspect they did come from somewhere down south. Here's what I know for sure: Micheal Buzzard b.1765 Northampton Co.Pa. he married Hannah Dotson/Dodson between 1794-1796.In 1794 he was listed as single. Was married by 1796.Micheal died 17 march 1846 Porter Twp Clarion Co. Pa. in 1793 he was in Plumstead twp,New Britian twp. He was listed as a blacksmith in 1796; Hannah Dotson/dodson b.1775-1780 She had knowledge of Medicine. Was it Indian Medicine or formal medicine? Was her father a Doctor? she died 1864-65 Redbank twp Armstrong co Pa. She was the daughter of Samuel & Elizabeth Rhodes Dotson/dodson. Now the following is theory only. Strangly, I can't find any early Dotsons/Dodsons in the area of Northampton Co or Bucks Co. Pa. However, Her mother Elizabeth Rhodes would be the right age to have a connection as one of the missing daughters taken by Indians from Rev.John Rhodes Fort in 1764.In what is now Page Co. Va. This may explain the Indian traditions in the family. Well hope to hear from you soon. Dotson seems to be a southern name also.
