I have just noticed your message about Dotson/Dodson in Wilkes Co., North Carolina. I am researching Dotson. I am trying to find a gr-gr-grandfather in North Carolina. There are so many William Dotson/Dodson that it is very confusing. I have studied the census for 1790, 1800, 1810, and 1820;trying to connect my line. I know that my William Dotson/Dodson was born in North Carolina about 1803. Then he moved to Tennessee and then to Walker County Georgia by 1850. Then the family moved to Cherokee County shortly thereafter.
In 1800 Granville County census:
William Dodson30010/2001007This appears to be 3 males (under 10); 1 male (26-45) 2 females (under 10); 1 female 26-45)
William Jr. Dodson 10100/10100This appears to be 1 male (under 10); 1 male (16-26); 1 female (under 10); 1 female (16-26)
Is this older William Dodson the one that died in 1832 in Wilkes County? I will certainly keep your "LAW" surname in mind as I continue to search. There seems to be 2 sets of William Jr. Dodson/Dotson. I am interested in any data along these lines. Thanks, Fran Bethea
