Hi Renee, While researching today, I noticed a William Laws and Rev. William Dotson and William Dotson Jr. on the 1820 Wilkes Co., North Carolina census, Series: M33Roll: 83 pg. 383 of Heritage Quest.
From "The Dodson (Dotson)Family of North Farnham Parish"; pg. 105;it states that William Dotson Jr. was also a Baptist preacher. On March 11, 1825, he sold 180 acres of land to Aquilla Williams of Wilkes Co., N.C. This was witnessed by Uriah Davis and Elijah Dotson. William Jr. and family then moved to Lawrence Co., Indiana. He died between 1830-1834 in Indiana. The estate settlement, 1834, shows his heirs to be Francis White and wife, Polly, Richard Dotson, Harvey Dotson, Uriah Dodson (minor) and William Dodson (minor), Elijah Dodson, administrator.Guardian of the minor heirs was Robert Mitchell of Indian Creek.
On this page, they use both Dodson and Dotson in the same summary. It gives more information about William Jr. Dotson's children such as births and who they married. I will be glad to send this if you should want it. Fran
