USAF Retired Senior Master Sargent James Charles 'Jim' Dotson, 71, Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2012. He was born June 5, 1940.
James was a highly decorated veteran of 28 years with the USAF having earned the USAF Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm medal, USAF Good Conduct Medal and many more. He was also an alumni of Columbia College earning a Bachelors of Arts Degree and a graduate of the Sr. Non commissioned Officer Academy.
He was predeceased by his parents, Woodrow and Evelyn Dotson; and his wife, Nancy Cheek Dotson.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan Elam and husband Alex, of Wake Forest, NC, and Theresa Evans, of Raleigh, NC; his son, Thomas Dotson and wife Mary, of Stedmam, NC; granddaughters, Kimberlyn Evans, Jennifer Dotson, and Shania Dotson; grandsons, Garret Evans and fiancee Christa Williams, and Cody Dotson; his brothers, John Dotson and wife Nancy, KS, Thomas Dotson and wife Pearl, and Bill Dotson and wife Martha; sisters, Wanda Adams, and Jan Rose Hall and husband Harry; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; and several cousins.
The visitation will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC, from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m., Saturday June 2, 2012, with the funeral service at 11 a.m., in the Chapel.
Interment with Military Honors will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
