Hi Patty, The Joseph Dotter you refer to is the brother of Caharles Dutter/Dotter, who served in the same Regt. as Joseph, different Company. Joseph lost his left arm in the battle at Petersberg Va. Right below the shoulder. He was the next to eldest of 6 children of Philip & Magda, ana (Strohl) Dotter. they are as follows: Daniel David b. 1834, Joseph b. 1836, Charles, (my great-grandfather), b. 1838,Reuben, b. 1842, William, b. 1845, and Catharine, b. 1850. Daniel and Joseph were born in Polk Twp. Northampton Co. Pa. Monroe Co. was formed in 1836 and the rest of the children were born on the same Twp., Monroe Co. Magdalena died at about the time of catharine.s death and Philp later remarried and had 2 more children by Caroline Borger/ Barger. I think she was actually a Knappenberger. Joseph married a Mary ???????, and had at least one son, Ira.Daniel and Reuben married Sax girls and migrated to Wisconsin in the 1800s. Reuben in 1864 and Daniel around 1880. Charles, my great-grandfather, also married a Sax girl and lived in Buck Twp. Luz. Co. Pa. William, I have not found much about so far. Catharine married a John Wildrick, who also lived in Buck Twp. I am not aware of any children by them. I also don't have very much info on Philip's children by his second marriage, other than that they wree both boys. Hope this helps you some.Larry Dutter
PPS: Reuben and Daniel had several children, whose lines are found mainly in Wisconsin.
